Mike Newell
Film Director
Michael Cormac Newell is an English film and television director and producer. He won the BAFTA for Best Direction for Four Weddings and a Funeral, which also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film, and directed the films Donnie Brasco and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Mireia Mullor
Journalist & Film Critic
Mireia Mullor is a journalist and film critic with over seven years of experience. She has worked mainly for Spanish magazines such as Fotogramas, Esquire and Elle, has recently written for WeLoveCinema and will soon act as Deputy Movies Editor at Digital Spy in the UK. Mireia is a member of FIPRESCI and has taken part in juries at festivals such as Venice, Seville and Sitges, among others. She is also a published author, having written a book about 'Kiki's Delivery Service' by Hayao Miyazaki.

Heléna Antonio
Actress/Producer
Heléna Antonio is an international award-winning actress, director and writer, born in Como (Italy). She grew up between Italy and Spain and studied acting with John Strasberg, Macarena Pombo and Ivana Chubbock -along with others- before moving to London in 2015, where she studied the Meisner technique.
Heléna is in the cast of a new limited Netflix Tv Series coming out in 2023; she is also in the American Tv Series 'FBI International' and has been directed by Golden Globe winning director Luca Miniero in the movie 'Tutti a bordo'.
'Sunburn', a film in which Heléna plays the lead role of Lucia, is now also on Amazon Prime, together with another film, 'Heckle', in which Heléna plays Laura, alongside Steve Guttenberg.
She works internationally, currently based in London, writing and developing other projects to be produced from 2023 onward.
She will be judging the Muybridge Category.

Michael Ryan
GFM Owner/Sales Agent
Mike Ryan started his career working in the TV industry for Sir Lew Grade's UK company, ITC. In 1978 he formed J&M Entertainment, a distribution sales agent for independent films, with Julia Palau. As J&M grew, it also provided production finance.
He then founded GFM Films in 2011 alongside Guy Collins and Fred Hedman. He was also elected Chairman of the Independent Film & Television Alliance five times, in 2003, 2005 and then in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Andy is a screenwriter, graphic novelist, and author – writing on movie projects such as “JUDGE DREDD” and “FREDDY VS JASON” and “FOREVERMAN” for Paramount Pictures, Spiderman creator Stan Lee and legendary producer Robert Evans. He has worked on TV projects for Syfy, Netflix, ITV, and Amazon and is working extensively between the UK, USA, and China.
He worked on Warner Bros.’ animated “AQUAMAN” – while at the same time landing an eight-book deal with Oxford University Press for “HERO.COM” and “VILLAIN.NET”. His comics and graphic novels include MADISON DARK, RITUAL, and DINOCORPS.
Andy has written over 30 books and graphic novels published in the UK and around the world, and has ghost written for notable celebrities. He rebooted the classic character TARZAN, with a series of contemporary books. His latest series of middle grade novels – THE INVENTORY – and DRONE RACER – are published by Scholastic. 2019 saw his debut novel for adults, CTRL+S, published by Orion.

Mario Theodorou
Writer & Director
Mario Theodorou is an award-winning writer, director with an eclectic body of work across both drama and comedy, who first came to prominence when his comedy-drama series CONNY was co-optioned by Merman and Bwark and put into development.
He was then selected for the BBC Drama Writer’s Programme and was named on the BBC Hotlist of 200 emerging talents tipped as future stars. He went on to gain a BBC commission for his drama series COWARD before releasing THE CYPRUS MISSING on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds.
His short film ANONYMOUS picked up numerous awards on the international film festival circuit, including a nomination for the short film award at the Oscar-qualifying Austin Film Festival.
Mario wrote and directed THE GIFTED HYPOTHSIS was released at the end of 2021, and earned a place at the Manchester Film Festival in 2022.
Mario is currently working on several projects in development with leading production companies and broadcasters: including his feature film KING OF CRIME, and his anthology series UNTOLD EPICS . Mario was also part of the prestigious BFI Network x Bafta Crew cohort for 2021.
An avid historian, Mario completed his first historical fiction novel, a Victorian crime caper called FELIX GREY AND THE DESCENDANT.

Katia Shannon
Writer & Director
Katia Shannon writes and directs heartfelt stories about love and adversity for Film and TV. She is currently in post-production with her latest BFI NETWORK funded narrative short, Us & in Between, starring David Hargreaves and Kika Markham.
Her award-winning films have received international accolade, playing at Oscar, BAFTA and BIFA Qualifying festivals including, HollyShorts, Carmarthen Bay and Underwire, among others. Her first short, Standstill, is currently on Omeleto with 50K+ views, and 3M+ views on Tiktok after a Canadian Screen Awards qualifying festival run.
Katia holds a BFA in Film Production from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montreal, where she was recognised with an award for outstanding achievement in filmmaking. In 2020, she was selected for the Netflix x BANFF Diversity of Voices Initiative.
She has also led the film commission for the region of the Laurentides and edited award-winning feature documentaries with her work broadcast across the USA, Canada, the UK and in festivals internationally.

Christine Hartland
My Smash Media
Christine Hartland is an independent film producer and co-founder of My SMASH Media, the IP marketplace for the creative industries, with fellow independent producer Fiona Gillies. Christine and Fiona met on the Creative England Market Trader programme.
Christine’s debut feature, the thriller WMD in 2008, was one of the first films to follow a reverse distribution strategy. She produced CONTAINMENT which was released and sold worldwide. She received Creative Europe and BFI development funding. She is a member of Women in Film & TV and BECTU.
Christine is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
She will be judging the 1st Features category.

Callista Saputra
TIME + SPACE
Callista oversees the digital marketing output for TIME + SPACE and Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre. She also oversees the day to day operations of the Hornsey Exchange workspace, along with handling in person and online inquiries regarding the Arts Centre.
Besides her work at TIME + SPACE, Callista is also involved in London’s theatre and film industry. She is currently a participant in the Bush Theatre’s writers group and the Young Vic’s directing programme.
She also recently co-produced Theatre Royal Stratford East’s ‘Future Leaders’ workshops for young people who are interested in getting involved in theatre. She is also involved in production companies such as Kakilang and Boundless Theatre, which are focused on giving underrepresented people a voice in the arts.
She believes that the arts industry should remain accessible for all, and always aims to create works that can make people feel heard and seen.

Samuel is a key member of Alliotts Media team, working with production companies and helping produce their accounts. He regularly presents at third party webinars and workshops on a range of areas of interest to media businesses, ranging from tax incentives, accounting and growing a business.
Samuel is a Trustee of Mama Youth Project and is a member of the Production Guild’s Diversity and Inclusion Group.
He will be judging our Documentaries category.
